Vicki:
As longstanding word perfect user, I feel your pain! I struggled for
hours the first couple of times with this issue. Then I found
www.ehow.com which instructed how to copy and and paste the POS and
Notice of Entered Order part of the Word, which have different footers,
into the Word Pleading so it all meshes nicely.

I had to speak to their office twice today,
no one really seems to know how to make the POS and Notice of Entered
Order part of the Word
pleading except by cutting and pasting, and in general, one guy there
can't understand why the court
insists on using Word when most attys use Word Perfect. Is there a
need for CDCBAA to have a
program on them? It took me hours today. Hope I finally got it right.

Well, that would be nice. If we can get them to pare down what we
need to send in Chapter 13 cases, that would be nice too. I mean, does
the Judge really look at the Tax and DSO Declaration? And then
there's the requirement of the mortgage declaration...don't get me
started...

Joseph, when you got the orders rejected for failure to provide judge's copies, was it crystal clear that the missing judge's copies referred to the order, as opposed to the underlying motion or documents? Judge Riblet, for instance, has told me from the bench for the last year not to send paper copies of orders. But she just rejected a LOU because there was "no judge's copy." She didn't say there was no copy of the order or of the motion; the wording was ambiguous. What she was missing was the motion the order related to, even though I was sure I had sent it. - John D. Yesterday we heard that all of the copies we are sending are going in the recycle bin, no matter how they are labeled. I don't think any of the attorneys listening were believing because many asked for clarification. the new rules are coming out in June to back up what we were told. Right now it's a matter of faith, are we going to believe what we heard yesterday or what we read in the rules.

I'm completely confused now. I wasn't before this thread started, but now I am. When we lodge an order, do we need to send ANYTHING to the Judge's chambers, whether we call it a judge's copy, courtesy copy, Sidney, or late for dinner?

@ Mark, I would send a "judge's copy" of the proposed order until we get
notice of the new rules.

SO,
The Judge has the prerogative to deny our LOU's for failure to provide a "judge's copy" or "chambers copy" when they might be improperly labeled as a "courtesy copy," even when they might placed in a bin labeled "courtesy copies?"
I am happy to this copy requirement eliminated, by any name.

Maybe they should be called "prerogative copies", except in OC where the bins for the "chamber/judge's/prerogative" copies are all labeled "courtesy copies".

We just learned that Judges no longer need a copy of the order, now. New rules coming out in June that will state that also.
