how old is judge zurzolo?!!
I have the code, the frbp and frcp , among others, in my iPhone apps.
Very convenient. Someone should have the local rules put into an app
too.
At my first BK firm (Winthrop Couchot) they pass out a customized
handbook code and rules every year. You carry it around like a bible
and you would frequently see all of us nerds open and review the codes
at the same time.

The part I love about this story, besides the food, is that Dennis had a
bankruptcy code in his trunk. I keep one in the glove compartment.

There is a short story I love to tell my students. Last year, after some cdcbaa program, Jim King, Ray Aver, Dennis McGoldrick and I went to lunch - some greek place on Pico (food's great!). That's well more than 120 years of bankruptcy experience sitting at the table, telling war stories. Pretty soon we are arguing about something, trying to convince each other of how something works. Suddenly, Dennis said, "I'll be right back." and left. He came back 3 minutes later with a bankruptcy code. We read together some code section and then some other code section and quickly reached a consensous about the point. The answer is in the code, or the rules, or the local rules. Some answers are in cases. If the answer is not there, any answer I give you is speculation.
When I was a newbie a long time ago, Zurzolo said to me in court in front of everyone, "Mr. Hayes, have you read Rule 2004?" I said, "Of course." He then proceeded to read it to me (and everyone else). I had not read it CAREFULLY. His point screamed loud at me.
When one of us nags about reading the rules first, take the advice to heart. At my age, I don't even trust what judges say a lot of the times. I want to see what the code says. That's the law.
