File the amended plan and disclosure statement now, and explain (ask
forgiveness) later. Do not wait to file until the deadline is extended.
If a party objects to the late filing, then you will need to defend.
I don't see a court dismising or converting for this reason only. However,
if there is a pattern of problems then you may have to figure out how to
convince the court that proceeding is in the best interest of both debtor
and creditors, and the most efficient use of the court's time.
