Dear Colleagues!
Here are some interesting tidbits:
1. The UST will continue to object and request dismissal for any Bk cases that involve businesses
that are in the marijuana trade based on Federal Law. But again, it is up to each individual
Court (Judge) to decide.
2. Shortly, Judge Saltzberg's LA Ch7 cases (but not her Ch11 cases) will be reassigned to other
non-Ch13 Judges in LA based on last digit of the case number. This will free her up to begin
slowly taking over cases in Santa Barbara (but her duty position will remain in LA) for when
Judge Peter Carroll retires, Also, Judge Barash will slowly be put on the wheel for some Ch7
cases in Santa Barbara to assist Judge Saltzman.
3. There was an obscure change in the Federal Rules of Evidence as it relates to the
authentication (not the admissibility/hearsay) of electronic "ancient" (before 1988)
documents. Please refer to the Court's website for this announcement.
Saltzman.
