Local search also refers to the ability to be found by people in your
locality. For example, when I search for bankruptcy attorney and I am in my
New York City office, it will show a different set of results then if I
search the exact same term while sitting in Pasadena.

Pat,
I believe it refers to that section on the first page of a Google search that shows local businesses on a map that are related to the search. Each search engine has its own process for determining that you are local. When I search for That is good. But people can game the system. There is an attorney on my block that shows up in local results with advertisement specializing in Bankruptcy. The attorney is not in the ECF system and according to Pacer has never filed a bankruptcy case.
