Yes. I have had this happen.
The credit unions membership term likely include a provision that if the CU loses money on the member they can be thrown out of the membership.
It is not the filing of the Chapter 7 that triggers this. It is the discharge of some debt, like an outstanding credit card or overdraft account, in the Chapter 7.
