Not sure but one could imagine that after May 1 local attorneys might be reluctant to make special appearances because of LR 2017-1.

Here's a trick-of-the-trade I use and it always works! Go online to the court's own website, which kindly lists (I wish they did same for CACB) ebtors scheduled at the same time slot as your client's. Call any one of the lawyers and they will gladly add one more appearance for a nominal fee. I even once lucked out free of charge with a promise of reciprocity -- but my suggestion is to pay because of the same reason that the Hollywood heartthrobs pay for prostitutes: once you pay for the service, it becomes a business transaction and no further strings of obligations remain.
