If the utility has notice of the bankruptcy, they will close the account and
open a new one with demand for a deposit. I had a client that owed the City
a significant amount for a water bill for a closed retail shop. City
followed his SSN to his personal home accounts (not listed in the
bankruptcy) and closed the personal home accounts too. I spent some quality
time reviewing s366 and it made more economic sense to pay the deposit then
to make a motion to modify it.
