Use Accurint for comprehensive public records which is on an as used
basis; and Homeinfomax is one service for deeds if you don't have access
to a title company research department.
Accurint will never cost you $200 unless you have a very heavy search
month.

for recorded documents, courthousedirect.com has a pay as you go plan.
cheaper than what you pay at LA County Recorder's office, but of course
not certified.
