If relatives cannot tell you if she is dead or alive, you can try checking with the county to see if a death was reported to the vital records office of the county in which client may have died.

She was very ill the last time I had contact with her and I haven't been able to reach the client for months now. I've called, left messages, e.mailed, written letters (certified and uncertified), contacted family members, and I even drove by her home and knocked on the door- all to no avail. I'm not sure what else I can do. The trustee has been kind enough to grant me extensions but I'm at a loss as to what I should be doing at this point. She may still be hospitalized but, in all honesty, I fear the worst may have happened. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Other than informing the trustee, I'm not sure there is anything else you
can do.
