When debt buyer says purchase price of debt is "confidential"

Creditors always object to producing evidence of what they bought the debt
for. It sure would be nice to know. Is this considered to be not relevant
evidence though? Will filing a motion to compel be successful? I've never
gotten that far on these as they usually settle. Do they have a valid basis
to object on confidentiality/privilege?
