Is a Note to Dad a Preference?

I have a potential client as follows - GRANDSON IS POTENTIAL CLIENT (and he and father and grandfather all have the exact same name):
Grandad (John Doe #1) puts home in trust when grandma is sick.
Allows children to put it in trust (7 children). Now deceased.
Son - John Doe #2 buys house from Trust - Trust no longer in existence.
