You can always have the client retrieve a copy of the complaint from the Superior Court file. The client can also cough up some extra money and pay
you to do it....

Thanks Mark. The problem on some of these is that the liens were recordedmostly in 2005, 2007 and client does not have the complaints. I am going
to see if I can get anything from him though as to addresses for these
companies.

If it is not an insured financial institution and incorporated, an LLC orlimited partership, look at the Secretary of State website for an address. If not registered in CA, look at copy of complaint for its state of
incorporation and look there. If not a corporation, LLC, or LP have the debtor
provide records of the creditor's address. Serve the attorney/law firm too
at the current address on the State Bar website.

What if the Judgment lien says the creditor is the "Company name" c/o
attorney?

four or five people have answered this question but Gio had the best
answer. You cannot pick the defendant's attorney. Use certified service on an
officer.

Thanks for your reply. Does the fact that I served the attorney not
exempt me from serving the officer pursuant to FRBP 7004 (h)(1)?
