debtor's Chapter 7 trustee wants assets....bad

If it is an asset case (and presumably it is if trustee is looking to sell it), then the case would not be closed. You would just need to file amended schedules. Let the Trustee know asap of your plans so that the Trustee doesn't incur expenses.
