Inheritance advance = debt?
Debtor has received numerous advances from a trust, which are to be deducted
from inheritance when his mother passes. 11 USC 101(12) defines "debt" as
"liability on a claim," which doesn't really clarify it for me. I did
numerous searches in scholar.google.com and came up with nothing. So for
those of you who've seen this issue or have an estate planning background:
is an advance on an inheritance a debt to the trustor making them a
creditor, or does it merely reduce the size of a future asset?
