New Important Bankruptcy Law Tool

I am pleased to share a new bankruptcy data source, the Bankruptcy Data
Project at Harvard.

The filings database allows you to select data by chapter, by
commercial/noncommercial distinctions, by individuals/entities distinctions,
by time period (monthly going back to January 2006), and by judicial
district. Data are distributed in a chart, table, or a CSV file suitable for
use in a spreadsheet like Microsofts Excel. The whole thing is offered as a
public service. You can find out more about the BDP here:

At the top of the BDP web page is a link to a historical and current online
Bankruptcy Code at BankrLaw@University of Illinois College of Law (
http://bankr.law.uiuc.edu). This web site
allows you to enter any date after January 1, 1980 and get the text of the
Bankruptcy Code as of that date. BankrLaw was initially conceived at UNLV
and owes its origins to then Professor, now Bankruptcy Judge Bruce Markell.
A grant from the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges made BankrLaw
possible.
This site is not yet publicly available and being rolled out gradually.
While everything seems to be working well, this is a free public service and
offered without the resources of a commercial information provider so there
are bound to be some rough spots. For example, inflation-adjustments have
not been made to the dollar figures and formatting still needs some work.
This is really neat and has been a long time in coming.
