Friends,
I'm sure we'll find some use for a toll-free number but I have to agree with Dennis and Lou that a referral panel is too much trouble.
I think a map based locater that shows where are members' principal offices are located is a good idea. What we have now is a good effort but IMHO a map is better.

Lou is right.
When I was president of the South Bay Bar Association we had a referral service for which I was responsible. A referral service requires a panel approving applications to be on the service, a peer review, a check of malpractice insurance policies, etc.
We cannot have a referral service without setting all of these thing up, which are expensive, cumbersome, and exclusionary. No malpractice insurance, no referrals. The referral service will not have any protection from negligent referral liability if these things are not in place.
We don't want all of this. A straight "here are our members, you pick one without a referral" is much better for our membership.
