The House did not vote on the Conyers-Turner-Lofgren judicial mortgage modification amendment last night. We've been told that they will debate it and vote on it sometime late this morning. (They are debating amendments and then stacking votes so the actual vote likely won't take place until later in the morning.)
It is our understanding that we may be losing the votes of some of the Blue Dogs who voted for the exact same proposal when it was HR 1106, so we cannot take anyone's vote for granted.
We absolutely need to keep the phone calls coming. Make your phone calls, Twitter about it, put it out on Facebook - anything to keep the calls coming in. (And by the way, thanks again to everyone who has already engaged on this issue. 1,091 calls as of this morning through our toll free line!)
It couldn't be easier:
1. Phone toll free at: 877.354.4958
2. Put in your zip code
3. When you reach the receptionist:
State your name
Say that you are a constituent
Ask the Representative to vote FOR the Conyers-Turner-Lofgren amendment (#201) to the Financial Services Reform bill.
This amendment will cost taxpayers NOTHING and will save millions of homes from foreclosure
Also, NACBA's very own Margery Golant will be testifying this morning at 11 a.m. ET before the House Judiciary Committee on mortgage loan modifications. Go to http://judiciary.house.gov at 11 a.m. to see if there is a webcast of the hearing.
