Pat:
I always call the clerk's office directly at the particular
courthouse (the main number, except for Santa Barbara where I have the
direct lines for the two appropriate clerks) where the case is filed
if the case has become long in the tooth. In LA answering deputy
clerk usually tries to take a message for the appropriate deputy
clerk. On those instances where I have to call back and an attempt
is made to take a message again, each time I explain that I already
called once and usually am forwarded to the appropriate deputy clerk
who promptly has addressed the issue.
