Avoid Lien for a Joint Tenant

Has anyone tried to avoid a lien (second mortgage) in a C13 for a property
held and mortgaged by joint tenants (divorced H&W) but when filing only on
behalf of H? Won't that at least reduce the total lien by 50%?
If not, any suggestions?
