Trustees' position on tax return extensions?

Trustee collects for creditors. Each trustee has a limit of how small a case is worth administering. So take a look at the return you gave the trustee, compare the exemption available, and you will get an idea if the trustee will hold case open.

I now have a client who has filed for an extension and doesn't want to file the return until October if she doesn't have to, but we plan to file Chapter 7 by the end of this month. Do most chapter 7 trustees require that the latest year tax return be filed before they close the 341a? >

I've had a trustee keep the case open to take the debtor's tax refund, and
when I said that the debtor couldn't file because of medical bills he was
still gathering, the trustee accepted a cash payment equal to the average of
the debtor's three previous years's tax refunds. We filed a motion to
compromise, and the trustee went away months before the debtor filed the tax
return.

Nearly all my clients are on extension and I've never had a trustee
continue it for that purpose. Who is the Trustee that made this
statement...or is it more than one?
