Yes, I put their form letter in the files section last year I think.
As others have said it is something of a shakedown. I was not served
originally [not sure why, maybe they saw the limited scope of appearance and
figured they could ignore counsel], the day I filed an answer and sought
costs and fees they dismissed. Next time, if there is one, I am tempted to
file a cross-complaint to pin them to the action and bring a motion for
summary judgement.
