I am not clear what you mean, but as written (or is it, as I read it) it is
incorrect. A homestead is a person's principal dwelling. While one can't
use a 704 homestead exemption and the 703 wildcard at the same time, you can
certainly use the wild card to protect a homestead if the equity is low
enough.

The wildcard exemption is only available if, and to the extent that, you don't use a homestead exemption. You, therefore, cannot use the wildcard exemption on a homestead.

Jarintorn:
(b)(5) is $1,100 plus anything unused from (b)(1), so
the total of the two is only $21,825, you cannot
double it.
