IRS tax lien

Hello Shannon:
The IRS will release the lien after the CSED (collection statute expiration
date) has been reached. Until it releases the lien, however, the lien is
still valid. So get a transcript, compute the CSED (make sure that you
take into account tolling based on events such as collection due process
requests, bankruptcy, offers in compromise), and once the date is reached,
call the IRS and ask for a lien release.

Income tax debt was due/assessed on April 15, 2002. IRS filed lien on
Feb 15, 2012 (per debtor's credit report). Does the lien expire with the
10 year statute of limitations to collect the underlying debt?
