Just wait, her attorney "friend" will screw up her case very badly, and then she will come back to you, begging to be saved. Be sure to double charge for the appointment at your regular hourly rate when that happens.

I swear to God this just happened. A potential client called up and when I asked if she'd like to schedule a time for a consultation, she asked how much it was. I said "Free for the first 30 minutes". We chatted a bit more and then she said she needed to find someone less expensive. I said "free is too expensive for you?" and she said, "yes, right now it is" I have a friend who has an attorney in the family who can help me out for less".

I give up. Are you all PAYING your clients to come in to get your advice? :-)

Isn't this typical of the practice of law, unless you are in mergers and acquisitions? Long suffering, consumer and family lawyers! We are humble creatures! CF
