Mark,

That happened to me two- three years ago which took a year to resolve. Don't sweat it. This happens to a lot of law firms. I was previously associated with two different law firms and they both had this same problem. So when it happened to me as a solo practitioner, I viewed it as just another Westlaw snafu.

Three years back I had several subscriptions and installment payments runnning. Prior to expiration I would call to get a cancellation confirmation number (having learned from the law firms I worked with). Even so, the continued billings came. My rep said that was because the billings and the payables department weren't in synch and it was all computer generated. (Or something like that.) After a few phone calls with no results I responded to the bills with a standard letter, telling them to correct their records based on my payment ledger. (I keep good bookkeepping records.) Finally I received a letter from their collection attorney --- it was great to get a live person and I immediately called, sent copies of my correspondence and payment ledgers, and that ended it.

In the meantime I was given another account number to purchase West services. (No problems so far.)

So, just keep your payment records handy for the collection attorney. Ask West for another account number pending resolution of the billing problem (if you truly need their services). You can also try Collier's/ Lexis for the code/rules.

> Oh yea, and if you could all cancel your subscriptions and
connections with West, that would be great :) (just kidding, but
I'm really pissed off right now).
