SB 308 - ACTION ITEM

Folks, it is crunch time. The final vote on SB 308 is expected in late May
or very early June. This is our best and possibly very last chance at
getting the bill passed. We've already been through 2 sets of dual
committees and passed the CA Senate last year. If you haven't been
following along, the bill raises the homestead, does away with the re
investment requirement, increases the exemption for a free and clear car
and allows a 'grubstake' exemption for the self employed. All very much
needed for our clients.
We are up against some formidable opponents, but we can still win. We need
your support. Last year we did not have any lobbyists. This year, we do. It
became increasingly obvious (Duh) that 'boots on the ground' were required
to be able to immediately answer some of the misinformation being spouted
out by the banks and the NCUA. Some of the misrepresentations have been
just frightening. Our lobbyists are wearing the 'white hats' and are
engaged in Sacramento, each and every working day. They are just great!
Our lobbyists have signed on at a discount, but even at that, they do cost.
NACBA national has agreed to a formula matching funds to our CA State
campaign, something that has never been done before, so that is a big deal,
as well. We're currently shy about $5,000 +/-. Those that have contributed
already, have contributed what they can, some 'only' a hundred dollars,
some significantly more. All contributions have helped, and they are
welcomed and extraordinary in their own right, given these tight financial
times in our crazy business.
Still, I am personally asking each and every one of you to contribute
SOMETHING. 10 guys and gals putting in $100 each would be $1000. I don't
need to do the crowd funding mathematics for you, you know the drill and
get the idea. All I can do is express how very very close we are to
'winning' something extraordinary and we need your financial help to get to
the finish line. Please follow the instructions below and join in, we're
literally at the end and this bill is too important not to succeed.
