Great idea!
I'll state the obvious: a referral service. Here's how it'd work -
We talked about this at a board meeting once upon a time in relation to the
website (say it with me now: www.bklawyers.org) This is just a twist on
that. Base it on the caller's location. We each get to pick one area
(larger multi-office firms pick just one? Delaware has two senators!).
The way the website was (is?) going to fairly distribute potential business
was to be we all pick one geographic a referral service based on geographic
location of attorney/firm. Each of us would pick one area to service. The
searcher puts in their zip code or city, and the attorney(s) in that area
pop up. It would then rotate who appears first, based on that area. (I
don't think the site ever developed this capability).
I submit that our wonderful administrator does this manually. Of course,
none of us have really picked an area yet. So that would be the first step.
Organization and maintenance of the list is step two. Search and retrieval
would be the final step, and the one which would/could/should lead to
business for us all. This would ideally be done in conjunction with our
website records so it's only done once.
Of course, marketing the number a la 800-DENTIST or 800-FLOWERS is also
probably the last and necessary step, and the Board and/or Publicity
Chairman would get our number out via area-wide radio or print... playing up
more our function and less our name. The general populace won't care about
our cumbersome moniker. They just want help and a simple phone number to
call to get it.
My $.02,
