Alexandra, it is just another debt, and dischargeable. The debt already arose prepetition. Steve

Im about to file for a client who is currently in a very expensive
apartment lease where upon move-in the landlord gave her two and a half
months off her rent. She can break the lease, but if she does, she has to
pay back the 2 months of rent. She intends to give up the apartment, and
cant even pay next months rent (although she is current on her rent right
now). Should she break the lease now before we file so that the debt arises
pre-petition?
