Thanks but nah, I'd never be able to figure out how to use it
correctly. Last finance course I had was about 25 years ago...
I just give these calculations to my CPA and he sends me back a nice
printout.

We were required to use one in financial planning and they are allowed in the CFP exam. They use reverse Polish notation and take a little training to use. They are financial calculators that can do just about any financial calculation. I dont use it anymore preferring to use a program on the computer as there are multiple free financial calculators on the internet now. I have never used one for a Chapter 13. I am impressed that some bankruptcy attorneys use them: I didnt know that before today. Mark, if youre convinced to use one Ill sell you mine very cheaply.

What's the best or "correct" way to list the amount of a variable interest mortgage payment? I've got a client whose loan adjusts every 3 months. Since he got the loan, his payments have been anywhere from $1,200-$1,800. Currently, they are $1,200 and with that, we're not passing the means test (or the I&J "test"), but at $1,800 we'd be close. Check the Note for the indexand search on Google for a forecast of the index (most will give you1 to 3 years), then add the index and interest rate base figure and run yourHP12C for the forecasted Note payment. Keep your printout for the UST.

Subject: [cdcbaa] Mtg payment amount where there's variable interest
What's the best or "correct" way to list the amount of a variable
interest mortgage payment? I've got a client whose loan adjusts every 3
months. Since he got the loan, his payments have been anywhere from
$1,200-$1,800. Currently, they are $1,200 and with that, we're not
passing the means test (or the I&J "test"), but at $1,800 we'd be
close. Same issue in a Ch. 13 as to how much the plan payment would be
anyway (which amount gets used?).
I remember Lou Esbin explaining how he handled this once, but can't find
the thread.
