Chapter 7 Trustee going after debtor's security deposit that is held by debtor's landlord
Yes, it is done when the debtor is a commercial lessee, and has moved out or abandoned the property and breached the lease. Their deposit is frequently a very large amount, and they don't tend to trash the place in the same way that a residential tenant does. Read about the distinction between Commercial and Residential security deposits at Civil Code 1950.7 and 1950.8.

Not that I have ever seen. Conventional wisdom is that it is a waste of time; debtor will just default, and poof, its gone.
