The listserve with a mix of simple or tough questions and comments about the individual procedural differences between judges is helpful the way it is. I started doing Bankruptcy in 1982 and sometimes I think my questions are dumb. Consumer Bankruptcy attorneys are really a friendly group and quite helpful.

Exactly. Just show that you tried to find the answer on your own first (not
that it's a pre-req, just good form, IMHO), and in general people around
here are more than willing to help out.

Frankly, having the cover of being a newbie is liberating since no one
figures "you should know that already" and the bar is set kind of low. Ask
whatever you want, being a dues-paying member of our group (you did renew
and pay your membership fee, right?). Get your money's worth and ask all
you want.

I enjoy ALL questions asked on the Listserv and attempt to answer as many as I can of am knowledgeable of.
I learn a lot this way and it also serves as a barometer check as to what issues the newbies are facing and where the Board of cdcbaa can possibly assist in the learning curve (mcle seminars, nuts and bots seminars, mentoring program........).
My only concern is when it is something can be easily looked up in the local rules or code.
Otherwise, Newbies -- BRING IT!

Grace,
I think that you fail to realize how much the cdcbaa Gods lovethe dumb questions. Its similar to when I help my 2nd grader withhis homework. I feel like Einstein. They get very defensive when you threatento take that away from them. J
Im in the same boat. Im a bk newbie and dont want to be oneof those morons in law school who took up everyones time with their stupidquestions. So, I tend to limit my questions as well. However, Ive found thatthere are far fewer dumb questions in bk than elsewhere. And, for whateverreason, there tends to be more attorneys willing to help without huge egos herethan in the litigation world.
With regard to a newbie listserv, I dont think that itsnecessarily a bad idea. There are a lot of questions that go unasked thatprobably would be asked among newbies (and probably one or more newbies couldanswer). This stuff is really confusing and, as Ive learned the hard way, thecourts leeway with screwing up is very small (at least in comparison to LASC). Renay,
No harm, no foul. Your enthusiam is appreciated and you are welcome to put together some sort of presentation for the board about how we can do something better. The board has had lots of discussions and lots of input regarding lots of different ideas from lots of different people. We discuss these things and often argue among ourselves. But in the end we vote and stuff happens or it doesn't. Its kind of cumbersome but that's how an organization works. Thanks for deleting the forum. Those of us running this outfit are a little defensive at times but we are very proud of us as a group and I don't blame anyone for reacting in a protective way.

Dear Fellow Members:
Please be advised that the experimental forum created on
DelphiForums.com referenced by Mr. Higgenbotham has been deleted.
I sincerely apologize for anyone being upset by my endeavors. I was perhaps
misguided in my approach towards proposing that the CDCBAA taking advantage
of the use of a FORUM as a means of exchanging information, ideas and
coordinating events.
It is clear that the facts surrounding the creation of the PRIVATE
TEST FORUM and that my intentions were completely misunderstood. Without so
much as a phone call from anyone, I've been accused of trying to steal the
CDCBAA name and leaving others to only guess or not guess at my motives. I
feel it best if I address these issues immediately so that my own reputation
is not contaminated by speculation.
To that end, I was motivated by two events to propose a use of a
forum for the group. Not having a lot of experience in bankruptcy law, I
felt uncomfortable and embarassed by some of my more mundane dumb questions,
my inability to interpret case and codes and make sense out of some of the
procedures in bankruptcy. It frightened me to post in the yahoo group a
question that was going to be seen by all of the members. So I withheld
questions, rather than misstep. I'm sure I'm not alone in my hesitation.
Second, one of the members posted something about the quantity of
email being generated by the yahoo group.
The issue I was having, and the quantity of email were both issues
that could be resolved easily if we used a "FORUM." If you are member of
NACBA, you know they have a forum. For those not so familiar, forums allow
you to create different folders that you can subscribe to and receive
e-mails about. This way if you don't subscribe to the newbie folder, you
won't see all my "dumb" questions. Further you will only get the emails
about the topics that interest you the most.
Clearly I was wrong in thinking that creating a PRIVATE TEST FORUM
for ONLY a very *few of the senior members of the CDCBAA* to look at and
consider, would be the way to go about seeing if there was interest in
developing a forum for the group. I called the test forum "the Unofficial
CDCBAA Test Site." I sent private invitations to six senior members with
an explanation of what I was proposing. In no way, did I publicly advertise
this forum or solicit membership in any way.
My thought was that If these few members thought that a forum could be
valuable to the group, I stood ready to offer my assistance and the laboring
oar to get it done in whatever fashion deemed appropriate.
Note, there are plenty of other forum software programs that can be
used on the CDCBAA website, or with a different forum server. Please note I
have no affiliation with delphiforums.com other than being a member there
for other groups to which I belong.
Again, I sincerely do apologize if my efforts were misunderstood. I
was simply wanting to be of service. I feel as though i get so much from
the group and i wanted to find a way to give back to the group. While I'm a
newbie when it comes to bankruptcy, I'm a bit of an old dog when it comes to

back to the group to whom I feel I have gotten so much support.
Thank you all for understanding and I do apologize for the
misunderstanding.

Dear Fellow Members:
Without any aspersions to its creator and without questioning this individual's motives, I do NOT support this unofficial forum at this time. It appears to be a newbie site created by a newbie for newbie questions that will only be answered by newbies. (Catch my drift?).
It is NOT supported by CDCBAA and is not approved by the CDCBAA board (ergo "Unofficial").
I therefore take the extraordinary step in requesting that experienced members avoid this potential spiderweb at this time.
