What's Up With NACBA
NACBA has engaged an organization,
Grassroots Solutions, to
help us strengthen and expand NACBAs existing capacity for grassroots
advocacy and to help us mobilize members to take action on advocacy matters.
The first step of the project is an audit, which involves their interview
of a very small and diverse group of NACBA members. They are interested in
gathering a broad spectrum of opinions, ranging from Members very involved
in our legislative efforts to those who haven't been involved and may
believe that NACBA shouldn't have a legislative agenda, to someone so new
they don't even know we have a legislative agenda.
I am writing to State Chairs for two reasons: First, to let you know that
you may be receiving a call from Grassroots Solutions as part of the
uld
suggest be included on the list of potential interviewees. Please indicate
the "category" of the suggested person (i.e., very involved in NACBA,
always/never comes to lobby day, new to NACBA, disinterested in NACBAs
advocacy efforts, etc.) Grassroots won't be able to include everyone's
suggestions, but its important that we deliver a good list to them.
Thanks for your efforts. You will have the opportunity to learn more about
Grassroots Solutions and our project with them at the Annual Convention.
Dan Cramer, a co-founder of the organization, will be making a presentation
during the Members-Only Meeting.
See you in San Francisco!

If you are interested in participating in this project, please let me know
by direct email to
davidtilem@tilemlaw.com. One point I will make is that with 10% of the
filings nationwide occurring in the CDCA, we should have a greater voice in
NACBA. That point has more force if we increase membership from our
district.
