H & W with 2 kids each are separated, living in separate rented
households. They wish to file jointly, but are above the median income
with their combined incomes. Since they rent, box a applies for line
20B on the means test. However line 20B local standards for housing
and utilities have no provisions for separate households. The imputed
amount is $2,008 for a family of 6. Of course each of their rents
exceed this amount separately, let alone jointly. To avoid the
resulting absurd result of the means test forcing them to file
separate Chapter 7 petitions, anyone see the US Trustee (SV) taking
any issue with using the household of 3 numbers for lines 20a ($584)
and 20b ($1,773),doubling them, deducting the household of 6 numbers
for lines 20(a)($662) and 20b ($2,008) and claiming the $2044
difference as an adjustment under line 21?
