Dear cdcbaa members:
This is a terrific article which I recommend to all. Paul has written at least two good articles which have caught my attention. This one is a bit long, but worth the read.
I'm wondering if cdcbaa can create a taskforce to work with representatives of the mortgage lender bar to see if we can come up with a solution, or at least some way to attack this problem. I see this as being in the best interests of clients - for obvious reasons, but also for members of our group since many of these paralegals compete for our business and the victims end up paying more than they would pay for legitimate representation.
We also have the highest (and persistent) pro se rate in the Country which I know is vexing to the Judges and the Clerk's Office. I believe this problem is fueled in large part by these marginal operators.
If others are interested in this, I would happily participate, albeit by phone or net-meeting. I suspect that we might be able to find a Judge willing to participate and that the Court Clerk may also be interested in helping out - perhaps with some data analysis.
Just a thought for the new year. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a great New Year holiday.
