This has been discussed on the list serv before.
Generally, reaffirmations of mortgages are not required, nor advised.
The debtors can self report their own mortgage payments to the bureaus.

Listmates,
Client filed Chapter 7 and received a discharge in 2009.
She had a home loan with "Littlebank," who went bust and was assimilated by
"Bigbank."
She made 7 years post-discharge timely payments to Bigbank, 2009 to present.
When reviewing her credit report, Lo and Behold! Bigbank has not reported a
single one of her timely payments.
So she now has no credit history, and can't get a loan.
When she queries them, she receives a long letter explaining that her
attorney should have had her REAFFIRM the home loan.
Bigbank is a California Bank, with HQ in NoCal.
How have you handled this situation?
