VZ Baby Splitting in Valuation Hearings

I have a contested 522f before VZ based upon, what else? -Valuation.
My recollection is he requires (or strongly encourages) a third party
court appointed/approved appraiser to determine value.
Could someone who has gone down this path give me the basics on his
procedure please?
