means test married couple in the process of divorce and living

Hello List mates
how do you handle the means test when the clients are married but live
separately and are going through a divorce.
I thought I could file together even though they live apart and have
separate household expenses because the schedule I and J will allow
separate expenses but the means test is not able to separate the
expenses for each like rent and utility expenses.
do I file the bankruptcy separately, one for each? they would qualify by
themselves under the means test.
How have others handled this situation before?
