Being ignorant, I called the ECF helpline a couple of times looking for a discharge on two different cases. Each time it worked immediately.

Once upon a time, I was able to call the clerks in the front room of the
bankruptcy court, give them a case number, and ask whether they could issue
a discharge. The clerk would pull up the file on Pacer, see that the
financial management course was completed, 60 days had run since the first
341, and no suit to challenge the discharge was filed. The clerk would
press a button and, bingo! my client had her discharge.
Today, I am confronted with an 800 number and a phone tree devised by
Mephistopheles himself when I attempt that call. Human beings? Not
hardly. I have also called chambers for the judge assigned to the case and
left a message, but I expect that is in vain.
Is there any way in this brave new age of bankruptcy practice to get a
clerk to issue a discharge? Or do we just need to wait until a gnome in a
basement office sees fit to apply rubber stamp to paper on his own
schedule?
