Pensions like STRS and PRS for public employees are typically mandatory
(line 26). Beware that a pensioned employee often has the option to make
additional retirement contributions that are, indeed, discretionary, like a
401k. Bottom line: ask your client about each deduction on their paycheck,
and if they don't know, have them ask their employer. Hale

In a Chapter 7, does this deduction on the paycheck for a STRS pension get
counted in the means test as an involuntary deduction (line 26), or is it
more like a 401K, where it is not deducted in a Chapter 7 (but is in a
Chapter 13)?
