Yes.I'll hedge this a bit: I've never considered this, and don't have authority for it, except for the fact that FTB rides on the coattails of IRS, and the state tax law includes the entire federal income tax regime. When you file your state tax return, you must attach a copy of your IRS return. This would be incomprehensible if FTB were to require a different filing year in any situation.- John D.
