Tax & bankruptcy practitioners:
It is my understanding that the FTB now has a new protocol if you're asking for account transcripts-or any assessment needed for tax dischargeability determination.
The last one I got was 150 pages of mostly computer data vomit. It' very difficult to read.
In prior years there was a one page bankruptcy summary that gave date of filing, assessment etc.
You also don't request it from the insolvency unit anymore. It goes to the "Disclosure Office MS A181" with a form called the "One-Time Release of Confidential Tax Information Authorization Form."
This seems to be a problem. It takes longer and is hard to read.
Is anyone getting the one page summary anymore? Do you have any information on how to navigate this new system? Is it better to get the clients to get the information?
